BRIEF HISTORY OF THIS SEASIDE TOWN

St. Julian’s appears to have been inhabited from as early as the Middle Ages when it was known as ‘Qaliet Gnien il-Fieres’. The area used to be surrounded with arable land which was also suitable for grazing animals. Moreover, the shores of this village always attracted fishermen. While the church dedicated to St Julian was built in 1580, owing to the area’s small population, it only received the title of Parish later in the 19th century. Over the years, the name of the village patron saint was adopted as the name of town itself – which is why we call it St Julian’s today.
What started off as a humble, little fishing village by the sea, has now become a busy, bustling area. There’s a lot going on in this area wherever you look. It's no wonder that today many would call it ‘Malta’s town that never sleeps’. St Julian’s offers more than just good sightseeing, clear blue waters and nightlife, as we’ll find out here together.
