1. CINEMA: Frida Kahlo

DATE:1 November
VENUE:Eden Cinemas, St Julians

One of the most enduring and arguably the world’s favourite female artists of the 20th century is Frida Kahlo. Her legendary style, lust for life, men, women, politics and her Mexican heritage has made her a ubiquitous feminist icon and style muse to generations. But what do we know of her as an artist? Frida Kahlo was a prolific self-portraitist who used the canvas as a mirror through all stages of her vivid, turbulent and, at times, tragic life. 2. HISTORY: In Guardia

DATE:1, 8, 15 November
VENUE:Fort St. Angelo, Birgu

In Guardia Parades are re-enactments of authentic historical events that took place in the late 16th century. There will be demonstrations of In it there will be demonstrated the regular inspection of the Palace garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John in charge of military affairs. During the re-enactment, the garrison will carry out military exercises to prove that it is in a high state of alertness. 3. FAMILY: Ziguzajg

Are your children creative and imaginative? (Always great characteristics to have if they are to grow up to be possible future coders!) This 10-day international festival for all the family is held annually in November and produced by Fondazzjoni Kreattività. 4. LITERATURE: Malta Book Festival 2020 - virtual edition

DATE:20 - 29 November
VENUE:Online

This special online edition aims to convey the same spirit of inventiveness, exchange and creativity as every year - to an even wider book-loving community. This November you’ll be able to enjoy events for adults and children for free, streamed straight into your home. The festival includes book launches, readings, meetings with authors, poetry readings, and seminars featuring local and international publishers and authors. These include the renowned memory trainer and bestselling Israeli author Eran Katz, and the Booker Prize-winning author Sir Salman Rushdie, who will appear in conversation with Dr Alfred Sant.
