Malta Calendar of Events for August 2020

Here is a sample of some cultural and artistic events taking place on the Maltese Islands during August 2020.

1. FESTIVAL: APS Summer Festival

The APS Summer Festival presents myriad cultural activities staged along the Valletta Waterfront. Held alfresco under the stars, with historic fortifications and the sea as a backdrop, the evocative venue offers a unique location for re-introducing live events in Malta. 2. HERITAGE: Msida Bastion Historic Cemetery & Historic Garden Night Tour

Din l-Art Ħelwa will be organising this event in Msida on 1 August. The guide, Paolo, will narrate interesting stories about duels, suicides and heroism, to name a few. This tour will take you on a journey back to the 1800's. More information from: http://dinlarthelwa.org

 

3. CHILDREN: Earth’s Ekko

Join BirdLife Malta at Salina Nature Reserve on 2 August to learn more about plastic pollution and how you can help prevent more plastic reaching our environment. Earth’s Ekko is a 20-minute documentary aimed at children aged 10 and younger. After which we will hold activities to demonstrate to your children the impacts of plastic pollution and the actions they can take to help the environment. 4. FESTIVAL: Malta International Fireworks Festival

The last event of the Malta International Fireworks Festival will take place in Valletta on 7 August. More information from: https://www.facebook.com/maltafireworks/

 

5. SCIENCE: Esplora Under the Stars

On 7 August - a night bursting with engaging activities for all the family. Indulge yourself with a night of fire, colour, interactive exhibits, science shows and hands-on activities. Explore Esplora’s galleries after dark and unleash your inner child as you participate in a range of science activities set up in Esplora’s outdoor areas. Visitors will also have front row seats to the spectacular fireworks finale of the 19th edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival in the Grand Harbour. 6. MUSIC: Rock & Run

‘Rock & Run’, will be organised for the first time in Malta on 9 August. During this event to be held in Birzebbugia, there will be music, cultural entertainment and more. More information from: https://www.facebook.com/events/birzebbuga/rock-run-5km/431409387432557/

 

7. ART: Tempus Fugit

Tempus Fugit is an exhibition which will be held between 13 and 23 August 2020 at the Gozitano Agricultural Village in Xewkija, Gozo. More information from: http://ateliernineteen.com/
