5 reasons for raising your kids in Malta

5 reasons for raising your kids in Malta

Malta may not be perfect… but it may be the close-to-perfect place for bringing up children.

1. Family Life

Family life is king in Malta. Spending time with ones loved ones is considered as being the pinnacle of a good life. Because there are no lengthy commutes, it is quite possible to have a decent breakfast with your kids and then take them to school on the way to work (or wave them off as they leave on the school bus and go on to your daily job). Some employers allow work from home and reduced hours for parents with young children. Weekends are usually reserved for family time. And long daylight hours during summer means that you can come home from work and still have plenty of time in the sun with your loved ones before it gets too dark.

2. Outdoor living

And talking about the sun, Malta and outdoor living go hand in hand. With around 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, it is possible to spend your time outside pretty much during all but the very rainy (very few) days. And of course, there’s a plethora of beaches to visit with your little ones.

3. Safety

Malta is usually described as a very safe place. The crime rate in Malta is low in terms of violent crimes and there are no known terrorist activities that have taken place on the island any time in the recent past.

4. Great schooling

Malta is well-known for the high quality of its schools, and there is free childcare for working parents. After-school sports and music programmes for children are copious and generally very affordable. Recommended reading on schooling in Malta: What are your schooling options in Malta? See here

5. Glorious weather

As stated above, with so many days filled with sun, the brilliant weather tat the Maltese Islands are blessed with means that there is virtually no (or at least little) danger of your precious moppets being stuck indoors bored and upset because it’s to rainy – or snowy – to go out!
